IN JAMAICA: COVID-Related Hospitalisations Hit Record 35, New Cases Jump By 11....Twelve deaths reported

According to the ministry, 35 people confirmed or suspected, are now hospitalised. The ministry said this number includes eight patients who are moderately ill. This is also the highest ever number of patients counted as moderately ill.

At the same time, there were 11 new COVID-19 cases today pushing the tally to 905 with 743 recoveries.Nine of the cases have addresses in St Thomas and are contacts of confirmed cases. One case is from St Catherine and is a contact of a confirmed case. The remaining case was imported on a flight from the USA with the patient staying in St Ann.

With 50 of total number of confirmed patients returning to their countries of origin, there are now 100 active COVID cases in Jamaica. On Sunday, the Health Ministry reported two COVID-19-related deaths. One case was a 64-year-old man from Clarendon who died on July 21 while the second case was a 73-year-old female from St Thomas who died on July 31. more
