The extensive damage to the Guy's Hill main road in St Catherine left residents marooned yesterday and forced them to seek an alternative route, through a cane field, to get in and out of the community. For 71-year-old Amy Hudson, who was on her way to Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, her main concern was to catch her flight.
The worried senior citizen, who was returning to England from a community called Jubilee Town, St Catherine, said her flight was scheduled for 6:00 pm. However, she was not sure she would make it in time.
Meanwhile, Semone Butler sought to get her daughter, Denelia Kelly, to her Clothing and Textiles Caribbean Secondary Certificate exam at Ewarton High School in St Catherine.
Butler, who was seen near midday walking through the cane field with Kelly on her back, said that the exam was scheduled to start at 9:00 am.
Last night, a relieved Butler told the Jamaica Observer that she arrived at the school shortly after 1:00 pm and her daughter was allowed to sit the exam. more
