YORK Castle High School star pupil Rodean Sylvester has not always had it easy, but one could never tell judging by her accomplishments.

The fifth-form student was raised by her mom who is a postmistress at the Moneague Post Office in St Ann; and while she has never been able to provide a life of luxury for her only child, Sylvester learned to find pleasure in the simple things in life.
Two of those interests she developed over the years were the care of bees and farming. Last year, the 14-year-old student placed first in the parish for her knowledge of bee care and management in the Jamaica 4-H Club competition. She then entered the national competition and came third overall.
"I find it fascinating," she said of her latest obsession. "The bees are so small and they work so hard." more
