Edino Steele Eclipses Usain Bolt's Record

WORLD 4x400 metres silver medallist, Edino Steele, started his 2014 season in fine style at Saturday's staging of the 13th Queen's/Grace Jackson Meet inside the National Stadium, winning his heat in 46.75 seconds to win overall and in the process erase Usain Bolt 2008 record of 46.94.
Steele's training partner at Racers, Riker Hylton, was second in 47.74, with third overall going to Josef Robertson (47.86) of Cameron Blazers.
Steele, who is preparing for the indoor season, was very pleased with his run.

"This was a race to help with my preparation for the indoor season as I will be competing in Birmingham next month. I didn't run all out as I was just focusing on the early part of the event, but I am getting stronger," he said.
Good start
Kaliese Spencer, who will also be running indoors this season, had a good start as well. Competing in the women's Open 400m, Spencer, who went out very fast over the first 300m, kept her form to win in 51.39 ahead of MVP teammates Anneisha McLaughlin (52.77) and Christine Day (53.66). more
