Jamaican Boxer Alicia Ashley Ready To Defend Her Title Tonight

Jamaica’s Alicia ‘Slick’ Ashley climbs into the ring in Tijuana, Mexico tonight, to defend her World Boxing Council super bantamweight title against Mexican challenger, Zenny Sotomayer. This will be Ashley’s third defence of the title she won in July 2011. 

The Jamaican-born boxer, who lives in New York, says her training had gone very well and she is confident of successfully defending her title. Her last fight was against Chanttall Martinez in Panama on April 20 this year, after being unable to get a fight for over a year. 

Ashley goes into the ring with a record of 19 victories nine defeats and a draw, while her opponent Sotomayer has 10 victories, five defeats and a draw.  read more
