IN JAMAICA: Cop shoots, injures woman in Half Way Tree

A woman was yesterday shot and injured by police in Half-Way-Tree (HWT) near the HWT Transport Centre, in St Andrew. Police report that at about 11:45 am, an explosion was heard and the woman was seen suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
A man, who claimed to be an eyewitness, alleged that there was an altercation between a man and a woman when the police intervened.

The “police saw the man and the woman in a fight and attempted to quell the situation,” the alleged eyewitness said. It is alleged that as the police led the man away, they were confronted by the woman, who had a knife. The policeman is reported to have fired a single shot and the woman was struck.
