Police Commissioner Owen Ellington has reported that seven persons were shot and killed yesterday.
Speaking at a parliamentary committee this morning, the commissioner also revealed that 16 people were also shot between Saturday and Sunday. Ellington also disclosed that the pregnant woman who was killed in Portmore, St Catherine yesterday was a victim of an armed robbery earlier this year.
He said the woman Sasha-Gaye Coffie, who was seven months pregnant, was shot once in the head and twice in the stomach. He has recommended that mandatory minimum sentences be imposed for certain offences. read more
