Twelve people, including a 3-year-old child, were shot on Thursday night in a park on Chicago's South Side, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The shootings reportedly occurred at a basketball court in Cornell Square Park in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood. Francis John, 70, was upstairs in her three-flat home near the park when she heard gunfire. "It was a lot of boom, boom, boom,” John told the Chicago Sun-Times.
Ten adults and the 3-year-old were transported by Fire Department ambulances to area hospitals after the attack. A 12th victim was believed to have driven himself to the hospital, The Tribune reported. At the time of this writing, all of the victims are alive, Fire Department Deputy District Chief James Mungovan said.
