In fact, some of our top acts - and even producers - routinely work with some of the biggest names in music. From Beenie Man and Elephant Man to Lady Saw and Spice, the unmistakable sound of our island has long been a part of the global music market.
Many of our now top-tier artistes have achieved notable breakthroughs into foreign markets because of collaborations with international artistes. That joint effort has garnered positive international recognition for many of these artistes and has helped shape their careers.
Shabba Ranks' collaboration with KRS-One, in the late 1980s, and Bounty Killer's feature on No Doubt's Hip Hopera, are examples of the bridging of the gap between hip hop and dancehall, helping to pave the way for new and younger artistes.
