I was very happy yesterday to get the opportunity to be on TSSSJ where I was able to a pose questions to the illustrious guests U-Roy and Sister Winsome Benjamin.
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see I was not the only person showing concern about the direction the music has taken presently. Where making money has been put ahead of producing quality music!
There was also discussed the fact that the history of the music is not known/researched/appreciated!
On the topic of history I would like to mention a great genre that is little/not known by many, that laid the foundation for the music we love at present. That genre is Mento, which was a story telling music which told of present topics of that day and everyday events and experiences!
I will provide a short article on that music genre, if there is an interest/demand for the said topic!
