REPUBLICAN Lawmaker. Andy Holt (R) To Give Away Two AR-15 Assault Rifles As Door Prize At Fundraiser He doubled down on his offer the day after the Orlando shooting.

One day after the worst mass shooting in American history, Tennessee State Rep. Andy Holt (R) said he plans to give away two AR-15 assault rifles — the same kind of weapon used in the massacre — as a “door prize” at an upcoming political fundraiser.
Ar15Holt, a self-described conservative Christian, had announced last week that he would give away one AR-15 at “Hogfest,” a barbeque fundraiser on his farm that has a petting zoo and hay rides. But when reporters asked him after the Orlando, Florida, shooting on Sunday whether he still planned to give away the assault weapon, he told reporters that he now wants to give away two instead of one.
“I’m furious that I get phone calls from the media asking me if I’m still going to give away an AR-15 at our HogFest, rather than asking me how many extra firearms I’ll be handing out to ensure people can protect themselves,” Holt wrote in a Facebook post on Monday. “After all, it was a bullet that stopped the terrorist. Amazing how so many seem to miss that fact.”
Holt went onto write that people “should not focus on the gun itself,” but instead on “the depravity of the heart of the person who’s pulling the trigger.” He encouraged people to buy more guns to protect themselves.
“I want you to arm yourselves and learn to shoot with deadly accuracy should the need arise,” he wrote. “Protect your family. Protect yourselves. Protect your friends. Our government has made it quite clear that it is incapable of doing so. At the end of the day, it’s your responsibility anyways.”
Early Sunday morning, a shooter armed with a 9mm handgun and a .223 caliber AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle stormed into Pulse, a popular gay nightclub in Orlando. He began firing, killing 49 people and injuring 53. The gunman, Omar Mateen, passed a full background check and purchased the firearms legally the week of the shooting, despite the fact that he had a history of domestic violenceand was questioned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2013 for possible ties to terrorism.  more

  • At least 50 people are dead and 53 injured, police say.
  • The gunman was killed by police following an hourslong hostage situation
  • Police are calling the shooting a terror-related attack
  • The suspect has been described as “organized and well-prepared”
In what police are calling the worst shooting in American history, a lone gunman killed 50 people and injured at least 53 others after opening fire at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
Omar MateenAuthorities say Omar Mateen stormed the downtown Pulse nightclub around 2 a.m. Sunday before taking dozens of people hostage and killing dozens more.
Orlando Police Chief John Mina said at a press conference that SWAT officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect, killing Mateen. Mina said Mateen “appeared to be carrying a rifle, an assault-type rifle and a handgun and had some type of device on him.”
Mateen, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, “was organized and well-prepared,” the FBI said, according to ABC News.
FBI agent Ron Hopper said the suspect may have had leanings toward extreme Islamic ideologies, the Orlando Sentinel reported. At 2 a.m., Mateen entered the club with an AR-15 type assault rifle. He began shooting, and at one point entered a gun fight with an armed, off-duty officer. Mateen left the building, then went back in, where the violence turned into a hostage situation, Mina said.
The type of gun used is the same legally obtainable weapon used in the Newtown massacre, the Colorado theater shooting, and the San Bernadino shooting, in which 14 people were killed.
Around 5 a.m., authorities decided to attempt to rescue the hostages, leading to a gunfire exchange that ended in the suspect’s death, Mina said. more

Slain twins killed my son, says mom.... Carol Bailey, the mother of 17-year-old Shaquille Brown, who was shot and killed in Waterhouse on June 5, believes that twin brothers Ramone and Rameish Cummings, who were killed by the police in Maverley on Thursday, were behind her son’s death.

Carol Bailey, the mother of 17-year-old Shaquille Brown, who was shot and killed in Waterhouse on June 5, believes that twin brothers Ramone and Rameish Cummings, who were killed by the police in Maverley on Thursday, were behind her son’s death.

BAILEY ... they ran from Waterhouse and went to Maverley
Bailey told the Jamaica Observer yesterday that there was evidence to support her allegations, based on eyewitnesses in Brown’s killing that the twin brothers were involved in his killing. He received 25 bullets.
“See his cap here that he was wearing. Seven shots went through the cap alone. Twenty-five shots him get! Other people were there when the gunmen invaded and they ran, but they know the gunmen because they are from here,” she said.
According to Bailey, Ramone and Rameish had fled the Waterhouse community and settled in the Gully Bank area of Maverley, where they had joined the “West Bank Gang” which, she said, has been terrorising the Carlos Park area of Waterhouse, where Brown was killed. The 24-year-old twin brothers were killed by South St Andrew police on Thursday on Denver Crescent in Maverley. The police said that two 9mm guns were found at the house after the shooting, which allegedly followed a confrontation with the police.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) launched a probe into the incident after the dead men’s mother, Claudette Matthews, claimed that they were killed while asleep. Residents at the crime scene sympathised with her.
But Bailey and her sister Sonia Henry insist that the brothers were involved in the killing of Brown and were being sought by the Hunt’s Bay police when they were killed.
“Police wanted both of them. They ran from Waterhouse and went to Maverley,” Bailey told the Sunday Observer, adding that they were known in the communities as “Dreadie” and “Bleed Eye”.
“But what about my child? He was using the Wi-Fi on his phone in Carlos Park and they run him down and shoot him. He died on the spot,” Bailey said.
She claimed that with the emergence of the Gully Bank gang, there is no nightlife in the Waterhouse area. Residents want the police to step up their activities against the gang.

TWICE THE PAIN in Maverley, St Andrew : Cops kill 24-year-old twin brothers, mother claims they were shot while asleep.

Friday, June 10, 2016
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the fatal shooting of two men inside a house on Denver Crescent in Maverley, St Andrew yesterday.
01The dead men have been identified as Ramone and Rameish Cummings, 24-year-old twin brothers of a Waterhouse address. INDECOM, in a release yesterday, said that a team of 25 police officers was on an operation in search of wanted men and guns. It is alleged that the team, acting on information, went to Denver Crescent. On arrival, two people met them at the entrance of the house. It is alleged that the police advised the occupants that they wanted to “clear” the house. A confrontation, the police said, occurred when they entered the house.
The cops involved in the shooting were interviewed and served with notices and the weapons assigned to them have also been taken out of circulation and packaged for submission to the government forensic laboratory.
Front cover of today's paperFurther to that the police’s Corporate Communications Unit said that two illegal guns and ammunition were seized in the aftermath of the double fatal shooting.
According to the police, the guns — a Trabzon 9mm pistol, which contained three rounds, and a 9mm pistol with two rounds — were reportedly found following the alleged confrontation with the police.
According to Acting Senior Superintendent Arthur Brown of the St Andrew South Division, the men were shot when they engaged the police in a firefight.
The injured men, he said, were taken to Kingston Public Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
Brown added that the men were not from the community and that they were wanted for questioning in relation to a murder in the St Andrew South Police Division.
Yesterday, the dead men’s mother, Claudette Matthews, who had rushed to the community, claimed that her sons were killed in their sleep.
“Dem come and see dem’ dem nuh tek dem and carry dem in; dem tun the gun pon di two a dem and kill dem. Dat nuh right,” a distraught Matthews told the
