ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A manhunt is ongoing for a man alleged to have shot his estranged wife dead on Wednesday in Southampton, close to Leeds, a few miles south of Santa Cruz..
“We are still searching … we haven’t found him yet,” head of the St Elizabeth police Supt Lanford Salmon told OBSERVER ONLINE late Thursday. The man on the run has been named as Verton Salmon, a farmer who is alleged to have shot his wife Marva Salmon multiple times during a quarrel shortly after mid-day Wednesday.
The victim died on the spot and the killer who police say used an unlicensed gun fled the scene.

Marva Salmon, a hotel worker, was described by neighbours as a mother of five children. Her husband is said to be father to four of the five children.
Residents told OBSERVER ONLINE by telephone Thursday that police and soldiers were seen combing a large, uninhabited area close to Southampton referred to by locals as “common”.
Police and residents say the tragedy followed mutual allegations of infidelity spread over a long period.
