HAPPY 86Th BIRTHDAY, To Activist, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) - Arguably, the one name, most synonymous with Black Civil Rights in America, is that of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He literally moved an entire nation to action during the 1960s, with his nonviolent approach to protesting the injustices inflicted upon Black Americans. During his lifetime -- Despite being beaten, stabbed, stoned, jailed and threatened daily -- Dr, King remained committed to the concept of Peace.In1964, at age 34, he became the youngest person to with the Nobel Peace Prize. As a speaker, he was equally as impressive. His "I Have A Dream" speech, delivered at the 1963, March On Washington, is considered one of the greatest orations of the 20th century.Dr. King was murdered April 4, 1968 in Memphis, TN. To date, he is the ONLY BLACK AMERICAN TO HAVE A NATIONAL HOLIDAY IN HIS HONOR.
