IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE: PALAS 2013 SUPPORTERS AWARDED 60 SCHOLARSHIPS TO JAMAICIAN STUDENTS AND RESCUED HOMELESS MEDICAL STUDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WEST INDIES .... 421% increase in contribution over last year supported 43% increase in Scholarships

Atlanta, GA (February, 2014) The Founder and Executive Board members of the Peace and Love Academic Scholarship Program, Inc. (PALAS, Inc.) would like to thank all of this year’s (2013-14) sponsoring partners, donors and contributors for making the year a great success in helping us to increase our scholarship awardees by 43%. The Scholarship Award Ceremony which was held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the University of West Indies (UWI) in Kingston, Jamaica resulted in a huge success with 60 new scholarships awarded and an increase of 421% contributions over last year. The Hon. Damion Crawford and Washington D.C. Attorney, Patrick Campbell delivered the keynote addresses to the 16 high school, 44 university scholarship recipients, with 300 guests/family members attending.

Since PALAS’s launch in December 2010 in honor and memory of murdered Jamaican student Vanessa Campbell115 scholarships, 12 computers valued at US$50,300.00 were awardedFifteen of the recipients were medical students. The selection committee received several hundred files to evaluate this year from students in age range 12-32 yrs, 87 females, and 41 males from 39 High Schools/89 University applicants. PALAS selection committee recognizes the growing request for assistance that will continue to support this worthy cause of “Preserving Young Minds for Posterity”. more
