PARTYGOERS continued to flock year-end events despite a downturn in the economy, organisers say.

In fact, promoters feel the effects of the economic crunch in the form of higher expenses, but they say people are still partying in droves. They were, however, a bit more discerning in their spend this past festive season because of the reduction in disposable income, said Deane Shepherd, an event organiser.

"Individuals were selective with the parties they attended —  they consolidated parties and stuck by the ones they know and trust, but it's not to say that they didn't party", he said.
"In real terms, the revenue may grow, but the expenses we incurred increased, so the profits didn't grow," he explained. Shepherd, a member of the team that puts on Cabana City (December 21), Osmosis (Christmas Eve) and X.clusive (New Year's Eve) pointed out that there was an increase in turnout for his events. Read more:
