Another plea for more public support in crime fight

JAMAICANS were urged yesterday to give greater support to the police as they step up their fight against criminals who were responsible for the 1,197 murders committed in the island last year.
01"As a people, we need to do more if we are to bring crime under control," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Winchroy Budhoo, who heads the Mobile Reserve.
He was speaking at the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF)/Mobile Reserve New Year's devotion at Harmon Barracks, Kingston, yesterday. The event was held under the theme 'Giving Thanks, Celebrating God's Faithfulness'.
Yesterday members of the ISCF, in giving thanks for the achievements made last year, said they were concerned about the crime problem but vowed to do all in their power to bring the scourge under control. read more
