It was a rich reflection of where Indian cricket is placed at the moment. It was a keen pointer that despite the impending farewell of their legendary hero, everything is, and will be, just fine.

Morning dawned and there was a mad rush outside the stadium. By 9:30 am, the designated start of play, it was nearly full. A few latecomers, or those held off by security checks, were still walking in when Sachin Tendulkar came to the batting crease.
