The head of the Police Traffic Division Senior Superintendent Radcliffe Lewis is reporting that the mini-bus drivers involved in Wednesday’s crash that claimed the lives of four students had been issued more than 100 traffic tickets in just over two years.

The four students who attended the Holmwood Technical High School in Manchester, died when the buses, said to be racing, collided with a truck. One of the mini-bus drivers and five students remain in hospital while the other driver has been taken into custody.

According to Lewis, since January 2011 one of the drivers has been issued 115 traffic tickets while the other received 105 tickets between November 2010 and this year. SSP Lewis has called for the authorities to get serious about implementing a registry for operators of public passenger vehicles.  read more....
