KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People's National Party (PNP) has informed that former Prime Minister PJ Patterson sustained a knee injury in the motor vehicle accident at his St Andrew home last night.
In a statement wishing Patterson a speedy and complete recovery, the PNP disclosed that the former party president is still undergoing medical examination at the Tony Thwaites Wing of the University Hospital of the West Indies.
The update came after he was visited this morning by current PNP President, Dr Peter Phillips.
“On behalf of the leadership, members and supporters, we are all saddened by the news, but heartened because it could have been worse, but for the grace of God,” Phillips said in the statement.
He further expressed that although he awaits a full medical report, he expected that all would be well and Patterson would be able to resume his normal activities in good time.
Phillips also thanked the medical staff that has been attending to Jamaica's longest-serving prime minister.
