A conservative radio talk show host in Iowa wants to turn undocumented immigrants into "property of the state" and forced into labor.
"Put up a sign that says at the end of 60 days, if you are not here with our permission, can't prove your legal status, you become property of the state," Jan Mickelson said during his show on Monday. "And then we start to extort or exploit or indenture your labor."

Audio of Mickelson's segment was posted online by Media Matters. When a caller said "it sounds an awful lot like slavery," Mickelson asked: "Well, what's wrong with slavery?"
He also claimed that Americans are "indentured" to undocumented immigrants by supposedly being forced to pay their expenses. Mickelson said the undocumented immigrants could be housed in tents, similar to the "Tent City Jail" set up by Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
"Put up a tent village, we feed and water these new assets, we give them minimal shelter, minimal nutrition, and offer them the opportunity to work for the benefit of the taxpayers of the state of Iowa," Mickelson said. "All they have to do to avoid servitude is to leave."
In another excerpt posted by Media Matters, he also suggested that the "slaves" could be forced to build a wall across the Mexican border: more

NEW YORK, USA (CMC) -- Glen Mills tips Bolt to conquer Bird Nest again at this month's World Championships in Beijing.

Tuesday, August 18, 2015
NEW YORK, USA (CMC) -- Usain Bolt's coach Glen Mills has backed the superstar to come good at this month's World Championships in Beijing.
Usain Bolt
The 28-year-old Bolt will enter the August 22-30 showpiece at the Bird's Nest Stadium with question marks over his form, after a series of lacklustre performances in recent months.
However, Mills said while Bolt had suffered several injury setbacks recently which had affected his preparation, he was the type of athlete who was always highly motivated for the major championships.
"The last two years have been very challenging for both Usain and myself," Mills was quoted as saying.
"Unfortunately, he has had a number of different injuries to overcome which have affected his training and the number of competitions he has been able to compete in.
"But Bolt is a champion who knows nothing but excellence when performing on the world stage."
Gatlin and Bolt
Bolt enters the World Championships as the defending champion in both the 100 and 200 metres following his conquests in Moscow two years ago, but with a serious challenge expected from resurgent American Justin Gatlin.
Bolt and Mills
This year, Gatlin has produced the better form, posting world-leading times of 9.74 seconds in the 100 metres in Doha back in May and 19.57 seconds in the 200 metres at the US Trials in Oregon the following month.
Bolt's 100 metres best this year has been a 9.87 clocking under pressure in London last month.
The injury issues last year and early this season have been a major problem but Mills said a few changes to his training regime had proven productive.
"We have been making a number of changes on the way he trains and have been getting results," said Mills. "However, I would have wanted him to have had more races." more

Hundreds Of White House And Congressional Workers Implicated In Ashley Madison Hack Many federal customers appeared to use non-government email addresses with handles such as "sexlessmarriage," ''soontobesingle" or "latinlovers."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hundreds of U.S. government employees — including some with sensitive jobs in the White House, Congress and law enforcement agencies — used Internet connections in their federal offices to access and pay membership fees to the cheating website Ashley Madison, The Associated Press has learned.
The AP traced many of the accounts exposed by hackers back to federal workers. They included at least two assistant U.S. attorneys; an information technology administrator in the Executive Office of the President; a division chief, an investigator and a trial attorney in the Justice Department; a government hacker at the Homeland Security Department and another DHS employee who indicated he worked on a U.S. counterterrorism response team.
Few actually paid for their services with their government email accounts. But AP traced their government Internet connections — logged by the website over five years — and reviewed their credit-card transactions to identify them. They included workers at more than two dozen Obama administration agencies, including the departments of State, Defense, Justice, Energy, Treasury, Transportation and Homeland Security. Others came from House or Senate computer networks.

OCHO RIOS, St Ann (TRAGIC FIRE) : One dead, 11 homeless, including four children, after Ocho Rios fire.... There were allegations that the fire was deliberately set by Junior Williams

Friday, August 21, 2015
OCHO RIOS, St Ann — One man died while 11 people, including four children, are now homeless following a fire in Drumcairn Place, Buckfield, Ocho Rios.
The fire, which started after 10:00 pm Wednesday, destroyed the 13-apartment house shared by the family.
There were allegations that the fire was deliberately set by Junior Williams, the person who died in the blaze. However, it has not been confirmed that the fire was deliberately set.
The fire reportedly started in Williams' room and then spread to other sections of the house.
Williams was said to be ill and suffering from depression and as a result was hospitalised for a while. One family member said he recently discharged himself from the St Ann's Bay Hospital and had been making suicidal threats.
In the meantime, a resident of Buckfieldsaid that although the house is located in close proximity to the Ocho Rios Fire Station, firefighters were unable to put out the fire. "When the fire truck arrived at the scene of the fire, the fire was only on one section of the house," said the woman, who declined to give her name.
She claimned, too, that the unit was not equipped to put out the fire as it had a difficult time accessing a nearby hydrant and had to wait on another truck to arrive with water.
"Dem no know where the hydrants dem deh and when dem find it dem have fi a dig and dig," another resident claimed.
In the meantime, Mayor of St Ann's Bay and caretaker for North East St Ann is appealing to corporate Jamaica and other organisations to assist the homeless family. "They have lost everything and are in need of whatever assistance they can get," he said.

IN JAMAICA : 14 y-o JAZIANNE COLE Killed....Police step up operations in Kingston West as gunmen continue rampage

BY KIMMO MATTHEWS Observer staff reporter matthewsk@jamaicaobserver.com  Friday, August 21, 2015
POLICE have stepped up their operations to clamp down on criminals who, on Wednesday, shot and killed a 14-year-old girl and injured two others in separate incidents in the Kingston Western Police Division, headed by Senior Superintendent Cornwall 'Bigga' Ford.
Bigga Ford
Police reported that about 4:00 pm on Wednesday Jazianne Cole, a student from a prominent Kingston school, was standing on Tulip Lane when members from rival gangs launched an attack against each other.
"The teenager was standing on the road when she was shot as members from two gangs in the community opened fire against each other," Detective Inspector Phillip McIntosh told the Jamaica Observer.
Police said the injured child was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
One man, police said, has since been held in connection with the death of the girl.
In the other incident, police reported that approximately 3:30 pm the same day a group of men went to Second Street, Trench Town, where they opened fire, injuring a man and a woman. Both have been admitted to hospital.
The latest shootings have caused more fear among residents of Kingston Western, who have had a number of gun attacks in their communities over the past few months.
"Right now, this latest set of attacks have left people in the area concerned; there seem to be no end in sight to this ongoing violence," said one resident.
Police, however, sought to assure the fearful residents that they were doing everything to apprehend those responsible for the brutal attacks.
"...We now have the situation under control and will be increasing our presence in the community to capture persons wreaking havoc in and around the area," said one senior officer.
The police have, meanwhile, repeated a call for residents to support the police in the fight against crime.
"The police will continue to increase their presence in the communities as many times these criminals will flee from the area and return, but we need residents to start informing the police about their movements," said McIntosh. more

RULA BROWN WORKING THE PALAS TRAIN TO HELP NEEDY STUDENTS IN JAMAICA & THE CARIBBEAN REGION

by Ruel E. Lowe - August 21, 2015

I would ask all the member of Rula Brown Network family, to join me in giving the good brother a great big round of applause, for the yeoman's job he has done/is doing in providing a great service to the youth, in the form of 95 academic scholarships! He has spent many sleepless night in spear-heading this project!

When the rest of us are busy complaining about the wayward youth, he has rolled up his sleeves, and put his hands in his pockets to get the task accomplished!
I plan to start a modest saving plan to provide a scholarship for a student or two, who might not have great academic skills, but is a very hard dedicated worker, who has raised their GPA from a 1.0 to a 3.2, these are the students, who I think need help the most! Those are the ones who will fall through the cracks if they are not assisted. It is very easy for the great academic students with GPA of 4.0 and above to get help!
Again, let's give the good Brother Rula a great big hand. Please make a donation online at www.PALAS1.org

Following the accident, a large number of curious onlookers, as well as members of the legal fraternity, gathered at the scene of the fatal crash.
For many, the sight of the mangled wreck was too much to bear.
