MONTEGO BAY, St James — The 24-year-old trainee at Riu Reggae Hotel in St James who is accused of breaking into a room with two female guests and raping them at gunpoint on Thursday, has also been fingered in a recent burglary committed in St Elizabeth, the police told the Jamaica Observer yesterday.
Police said they caught the suspect after he turned up at May Pen Public General Hospital with gunshot wounds.
“His fingerprints were found at the scene of a burglary in St Elizabeth,” a senior member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force told the Sunday Observer.
The suspect was said to be working at the hotel as a trainee entertainment coordinator for a mere three days when the incident occurred. Police also alleged that before the encounter with the women, who are said to be Americans, the suspect broke into another room and stole the firearm of a licensed firearm holder staying at the hotel. more
