TEN young people have been selected as ambassadors for positive social change under the Governor General’s I Believe Initiative (IBI).
The IBI is a service-oriented programme, which emphasises youth upliftment, positive family values and education.
The 2016 IBI ambassadors were installed at a luncheon held Tuesday at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston.

In his address, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen said the initiative, which has gained national recognition and increased popularity since its inception in 2013, is testament to the active participation of youth in nation-building through social change. “Since the launch of the I Believe Ambassadors programme three years ago, nearly 200 ambassadors from across Jamaica have been inducted on the basis of the various activities they conduct, and because of the inspiration and passion they have to serve their fellow men and participate in the development of this country,” he said.
The governor general pointed out that the young people are doing their part to inspire individuals and build stronger communities.
“Many of our I Believe ambassadors are involved in other social and service programmes and I want to encourage you to use those platforms to help increase the IBI’s visibility and national identity,” he said.
Sir Patrick commended the new ambassadors for their selfless service and encouraged them to continue to contribute to social reform through their projects. more
