SKULLY HOP to MOVE OVER GULLY BOP....Another Jamaican artiste rises from out of the Gully

JA: Internet sensation Gully Bop is the fastest rising dancehall artist and the current 'King of Sting.' However, Gully Bop may have to make way for another artiste from the gully – Skully Hop!

Skully Hop
We are not joking, check out the latest YouTube video that has been making the rounds on social media. It was recorded downtown, Kingston by the 151 Show and the almost toothless, homeless artiste could very well find himself enjoying some perks like his predecessor.
Jamaica is not the only place that has seen fortune smiling on talented people down and out on their luck. Remember in the USA, the story on the "Man with the Golden Voice" Ted Williams.
Skully Hop
Skully Hop
Like Gully Bop, the once-homeless Williams life made a 360 degree turn after his youtube video went viral.
We know Gully Bop has been calling for a clash with Ninjaman, Alkaline and Black Rhyno. Check out this video and see Skully Hop in action. We have to admit that he could give Gully Bop some serious competition in a one on one, free style 'Gully Music' competition. That would be the real Gully Man clash to see for 2015.

ANNOTTO BAY, St Mary : Police kill man who shot dead woman, lover in jealous rage....Police said Camille 'Munch' Bell, a resident in Annotto Bay, and Miguel Campbell, aka called 'Blacks' of Aleppo, Highgate, were allegedly shot and killed by Oneil Anderson... The shooting reportedly took place in full view of one of the woman's two children.

Tuesday, January 13, 2015
ANNOTTO BAY, St Mary — A man who was yesterday accused of the shooting death of the mother of one of his children and her lover in an apparent jealous rage, was later shot and killed after a confrontation with the police.

Police said Camille 'Munch' Bell, a resident of Merry Trust Lane here in Annotto Bay, and Miguel Campbell, otherwise called 'Blacks' of Aleppo, Highgate, also in the parish, were allegedly shot and killed by Oneil Anderson about 3:30 yesterday morning.
Anderson, police said, allegedly broke into Bell's home which she shares with her children and shot the woman and her boyfriend who was visiting. The shooting reportedly took place in full view of one of the woman's two children. The child reportedly ran to his grandmother's home nearby after which the police were called and the couple's body discovered.
The police reported that while conducting a search for the suspect later in the morning officers were allegedly attacked by Anderson with a machete and was shot by the police. He was taken to hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Community members said Bell broke off a relationship with Anderson after he was arrested and charged with murder more than a year ago. Anderson, they claimed, returned to the community and wanted to continue after he was acquitted of the murder charge, but the woman refused.
One resident claimed that Bell had complained that she had received threats from Campbell because she refused his advances.
"She tell mi she have to go take out a restraining order against him," the man told Jamaica Observer. However, it could not be confirmed if this was done.
Bell, who was a vendor, was yesterday described as a very quiet person. more

More Than 85,000 Haitians Are Still Homeless From The 2010 Earthquake after an earthquake killed more than 200,000 people and left unprecedented damage to Haiti's housing infrastructure...the United Nations has recorded about $13.34 billion in donated funds for Haiti reconstruction through 2020.

The Huffington Post  |  By Robbie Couch Email Posted: 01/12/2015 2:17 pm EST
Five years ago, an earthquake killed more than 200,000 people and left unprecedented damage to Haiti's housing infrastructure -- damage that the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere is still struggling to reverse.
Young child comforted
According to a new report by Amnesty International, there are 85,432 people in Haiti (comprising 22,741 households) who remain homeless because of the 2010 earthquake. As the report explains, the natural disaster exposed the dire state of housing in Haiti, where a large portion of people had lived in substandard homes that were built by residents using inadequate materials and poor construction techniques.
Living in rubble
"Five years ago, the eyes of the world were on Haiti after the devastating earthquake tore lives apart and left more than 2 million people homeless," Chiara Liguori, Caribbean researcher at Amnesty International, said. "Sadly, since then, the world’s interest has waned while tens of thousands of people remain destitute and homeless."Although the number of people living in displacement camps has dropped over 90 percent since July 2010, the majority of those who left are still not living in durable housing, the report notes -- many have moved back into unsafe structures or began construction on their own homes without expert assistance.
As NBC News reported, at least 200,000 people reside in slums known as Canaan-Jerusalem, where there's no electricity, running water or sanitation system in place. more

IN JAMAICA: It’s War! NEPA boss Peter Knight, accuses Negril breakwater opponents of waging campaign to mislead public

Tuesday, January 13, 2015
THE verbal war over the planned installation of a reef protection system in Negril reached fever pitch over the weekend with Peter Knight, chief executive officer of the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), accusing the project’s opponents of waging a campaign “to mislead and confuse the public”.
Front cover of today's paperIn fact, Knight said the letter-writing campaign, by whom he  termed “selected stakeolders”, was also designed to “denigrate the evidence-based and science-based decision” arrived at by NEPA and the Natural Resources Conservation Authority to ahead with the breakwater project.
Knight was basically responding to a letter from Jane Issa published in last Wednesday’s Jamaica Observer. Issa had said that the proposed breakwater project “would require 14 months of 24/7 hard-core construction requiring a ‘construction stage’ at the mouth of the river in the centre of town with a crane and barge”.
01She also argued that breakwater boulders bring dust and debris to the location where they are being placed and would need ongoing maintenance after completion.
“They also attract algae, which will eventually smother the reef and multiply inside the breakwaters coming ashore, creating odour and contaminating the water,” Issa wrote. “Further, breakwater boulders have been known to tumble and roll during hurricanes. more

PARIS (AP) — France on Monday ordered 10,000 troops into the streets to protect sensitive sites after three days of bloodshed and terror, amid the hunt for accomplices to the attacks that left 17 people and the three gunmen dead.
Prime Minister Manuel Valls said the search is urgent because "the threat is still present" after the attacks that began Wednesday with a massacre on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and ended when the three attackers were killed Friday in nearly simultaneous raids by security forces.
Meanwhile, France's defense minister said Monday the country is mobilizing 10,000 troops to protect the population. Jean-Yves Le Drian said the deployment will be fully in place by Tuesday, and will focus on the most sensitive locations.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said 4,700 security forces would be assigned to protect France's 717 Jewish schools. more

Chris Gayle blasted 90 off 41 balls stars as West indies defeat South Africa in record T20 run-chase Action man

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AFP) — Chris Gayle blasted 90 off 41 balls as the West Indies achieved a world record run chase in the second Twenty20 international yesterday to beat South Africa by four wickets.

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis hit a 46-ball century in his team’s total of 231 for seven — their second highest total in the shortest form of the game.
But it was overhauled with four balls to spare on a record-breaking day at the Wanderers with West Indies captain Darren Sammy finishing the match with a six to take his team to 236 for six.
Man of the Match Gayle was again the star for the West Indies as he shared a second-wicket stand of 152 off 75 balls with Marlon Samuels, who made 60.
“Cricket was the winner today (yesterday),” said Sammy. “We were dominated in the Tests but we have different energy in this series.”
It was astonishing batting by both teams in ideal conditions on a field where the world record 50-overs run chase was achieved by South Africa when they scored 438 for nine against Australia in 2005/06.
The previous T20 record chase was 211 for four by India against Sri Lanka in Mohali in 2009/10.
Du Plessis said his South African record score of 119 off 56 balls was “bittersweet”. more

IN JAMAICA: Blind But Brilliant - Spanish Teacher Excels At Clan Carthy Despite Visual Impairment....PALAS Gold Star student, Javanney Campbell figured prominently

Corey Robinson, Staff Reporter Published: Sunday | January 11, 2015
At 30 years old, Coswell Barnett is as respected and revered by his students as much as any of his teaching colleagues at the Clan Carthy High School in St Andrew, and it is not just because he is blind...

Somehow, Barnett, a Spanish teacher who makes his way from staffroom to classroom with the help of a cane, has found a way to connect with his students, to gain and maintain their interest even while not being able to see their faces.
And he does this while assisting them to distinctions in Spanish at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) level, pushing them to 11 medals at annual Spanish festivals, and while helping to prepare the school's quiz team.

As for the students, they show Barnett the respect he deserves because he deals with them like 'a real man'; he can identify each of them by name - with just one sentence they utter - his classes usually include the timeless high-school practice of desk drumming and singing, albeit in a foreign language, and maybe it's his story of perseverance against the odds.
"It's really about letting the students know that there is another way out in life apart from the negativity," Barnett told The Sunday Gleaner.
"Most of the students who I teach, and have taught, are from the inner-city communities. But I speak to them like 'a real man', a man from humble beginnings, and they are able to relate to me," said Barnett.

"Especially the females, I say to them, 'look, you don't want to leave school not achieving at least a formal education at this level and become pregnant'.
"Because that is the reality of the lives of many young girls today. And for the males, I tell them, 'you don't want to end up becoming a don', because that is the order of the day in their neck of the woods," said Barnett. more

PORTLAND, JAMAICA (VIDEO): 64 y-o Mom, BEVERLEY SOBAH says she will join dead son soon...Cancer patient's hope fades due to lack of radiation machine, money woes....the radiation machine at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) is not in working condition, Sobah is unable to do the required radiotherapy that could prolong her life.

BEVERLEY Sobah has hardly slept in the last five months.
She lies in bed staring at the ceiling, listening to the silence, lost in her thoughts. When that becomes monotonous, she will stand by her bedroom window staring into the still night at the grave of her son who died of cancer 13 years ago.
“Ricky, I will soon be beside you, because now I have cancer too,” she will say out loud. Last August, Sobah, 64, was diagnosed with carcinoma of the left parotid, a rare form of cancer that begins in the salivary glands of the mouth, neck or throat.

However, because the radiation machine at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) is not in working condition, Sobah is unable to do the required radiotherapy that could prolong her life. A tearful Sobah told the Jamaica Observer last Wednesday that her fear had been made worse because she lost both her father and her son to cancer.
A blue and white grave at the back of her Grange Hill home in Portland is testimony of the 33-year-old son who died of bone cancer. She explained that about a year ago she noticed a lump at the left side of her neck. In August last year she visited the doctor and was given antibiotics and told that it could be her sinus draining.
However, upon completion of the medication the problem persisted. “I went back and told her to please give me something to go and do a test to see what is happening because my son died of cancer and my father died of cancer,” Sobah said. “She referred me to the ENT clinic at Kingston Public. more

Oneal Ron Morris, 33, is accused of leaving women ill and disfigured after injecting them with a mixture of toxic substances, including super glue, Fix-A-Flat and cement, at homes across Florida.
In addition to multiple counts of practicing medicine without a license with serious bodily injury, she is also facing a manslaughter charge after one of her 'patients' died following surgery.
The victim, Shatarka Nuby, passed away from acute and chronic respiratory failure reportedly caused by the silicone used in the procedure while serving time in a Tallahassee prison in 2012. On Friday morning, Morris appeared in court for her bond hearing, donning prison overalls and with her previously long hair cut short. She appealed for a low bond, claiming she was not a flight risk.
However, Broward Circuit Judge Michael Rothschild refused her request and instead, set her bond at $40,000, an amount Morris had indicated she would not be able to pay, CBS Miami reported.

This means she will likely remain in Broward Main Jail until her trial, for which an exact date is yet to be finalized. She could face up to 100 years in prison if she is convicted of manslaughter.

Whole heap a butt
It comes more than a year after Morris, known as 'The Duchess', finished serving a prison stint for a previous conviction in Miami-Dade for one count of practicing health care without a licence.
She was sentenced to 336 days after pleading guilty to the charge as part of a plea deal. She began serving time on January 7, 2014, with the seven charges she is currently facing hanging over her.

In November 2014, the convict was extradited to the jail at which she is currently being held.
Morris, who was born a man but identifies as a woman, was first arrested by police on November 18, 2011, after a 'patient' came forward claiming she had entered a toxic concoction into her backside.

She was freed but later rearrested after a second person told police they had been illegally treated by Morris and her associate, Corey Eubank, Miami Gardens Police said. more

"It is anticipated that over the course of this year, we should see over 500 persons charged under this legislation and this will, in fact, help us to break the back of the criminal gangs that have been plaguing us for a long time," said deputy commissioner of police (DCP) in charge of crime, Glenmore Hinds.
He was speaking at a press conference Wednesday at the Police Commissioner's Office on Old Hope Road, St Andrew. He said that 26 persons have been charged under the anti-gang law to date.
The legislation was passed into law last year and forms part of the Government's strategy to fight crime.
It makes provision for the disruption and suppression of criminal organisations and outlines offences, in order to restore a sense of security in the Jamaican society and strengthen the capacity of law enforcement agencies to effectively deal with crime.
It seeks to prohibit persons from establishing a criminal organisation; taking part in, or participating in a criminal organisation; providing or obtaining a benefit from a criminal organisation; and harbouring or concealing a participant in a criminal organisation. more

Chris Gayle blows hot on return to inspire Windies victory over South Africa....Gayle slammed the fastest half-century by a West Indies batsman en route to a top score of 77 off 31 balls

Friday, January 09, 2015 | 7:55 PM
CAPE TOWN, South Africa (CMC) – Explosive opener Chris Gayle announced his return to international cricket after nearly five months with a stunning half-century but West Indies made a meal of their target before stumbling past South Africa by four wickets in the opening Twenty20 International of the three-match series on Friday.
Gayle on his way to the fastest half-century by a
West Indies batsman
The 35-year-old left-hander, who has been side-lined in recent months by injury, slammed the fastest half-century by a West Indies batsman en route to a top score of 77 off 31, an innings which allowed the Caribbean side to chase down their target of 166, with only four deliveries remaining at Newlands.
Gayle belted five fours and eight whopping sixes, raising his 12th T20 International half-century off a mere 17 balls to break Kieron Pollard’s record of the fastest fifty by a West Indies player which had come off 20 deliveries.
Marlon Samuels chipped in with 41 off 37 balls and Dwayne Smith made 20 in an up tempo opening stand of 78 off a mere 37 balls with Gayle, to lay the foundation for the Windies victory bid.
However, as has become the norm, the Caribbean side needed to inject the now obligatory drama, into what otherwise should have been a straightforward run chase, especially after Gayle’s fireworks paved the way. more

Latiesha Allen, the ‘common-law wife’ of influential dancer Gerald ‘Bogle’ Levy, will mark the 10th anniversary of his death with an event dubbed, ‘Mr Wacky aka Bogle 10th Memorial Dance Off’.

Bogle
It takes place January 16 at the Event Centre in Decatur, Georgia. The show will feature a host of Bogle’s colleagues including Dancehall Queen Carlene, dancers Boysie, Craigy Dread, Hope Hype, Dansa and the Wacky Family, as well as sound system Sound Decision and selectors Jiggy Hunks (formerly of Metro Media) and Bugsy Bam Bam. Bogle, 40, was shot and killed January 20, 2005 in Kingston, shortly after leaving the popular Weddy Weddy dance.
No one has been prosecuted for his murder. “Bogle memorial is an event I keep every year in Jamaica or here in the United States. I do this in honour of a dancehall icon gone too soon,” said Allen in an interview with Spl a s h. Allen, who lives in New York, believes Bogle has not been given the respect he deserves for promoting dancehall culture.
Latiesha Allen
“He is the first male dancer from Jamaica to open the gates overseas for other dancehall dancers to be recognised,” she said. “He is internationally known and loved for his dance moves. He had Japanese, Americans, Europeans, Caribbean nationals an’ people from all over the world coming to Jamaica jus’ to see him perform.
He represented for our country.” Allen is calling for national recognition for the gangly Bogle whom she credits for “opening the eyes of millions of visitors to our island". more

REPORT: Christie Illegally Publicized Senator's Records To Intimidate....Before Bridgegate, Chris Christie Used Port Authority As Political Weapon

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey was under fire. It was 2012 and the agency had just hiked tolls on area bridges and tunnels. Inside a hearing room on Capitol Hill, the Port Authority's deputy chief, Bill Baroni, was absorbing withering criticism from Sen. Frank Lautenberg, the late New Jersey Democrat.
Chris Christie
Christie
Lautenberg carried a reputation as the political nemesis of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican who had appointed Baroni to his perch. Baroni swiftly attacked the senator: How could Lautenberg justify his opposition to raising tolls when he had himself enjoyed free passage across area bridges and tunnels?
"Respectfully, Senator, you only started paying tolls recently," Baroni said, according to a transcript of the exchange. "In fact, I have a copy of your free E-ZPass," he continued, holding up a physical copy of the toll pass Lautenberg had received as a benefit from his tenure as a Port Authority commissioner. "You took 284 trips for free in the last 2 years you had a pass."
Within days, Christie himself disclosed further detailed information about Lautenberg’s private travel records. At a press conference, he alleged that the senator didn't "pay for parking at Port Authority facilities" and said Lautenberg went "through the tunnel to New York three or four times a week in 2005 and 2006." more

SUSPECTS CORNERED TAKE HOSTAGE 2nd CRISIS IN PARIS : Attackers Say They Want To 'Die As Martyrs'... Residents Told To Remain At Home… Schools Under Lockdown... Paris Showdown Apparently Related To Charlie Hebdo Attack... LIVE VIDEO...

DAMMARTIN-EN-GOELE, France (AP) — French security forces struggled with two rapidly developing hostage-taking situations Friday, one northeast of Paris where two terror suspects were holed up with a hostage in a printing plant and the other an attack on a kosher market in Paris.
The two brothers suspected in a deadly terror attack Wednesday were cornered by police Friday inside a printing house in the small industrial town of Dammartin-en-Goele. One lawmaker said they told negotiators they "want to die as martyrs."
Hours later, a gunman seized an unknown number of hostages at a kosher market in eastern Paris, France's anti-terrorism prosecutor said. A police official, who was not authorized to speak to the media about the events, told The Associated Press there were several hostages and wounded in the kosher market. Police SWAT squads descended on the area near Paris' Porte de Vincennes neighborhood and France's top security official rushed to the scene. The attack came before sundown when the market would have been crowded with shoppers.
France has been high alert for other attacks since the country's worst terror attack in decades — the massacre Wednesday in Paris that left 12 people dead at the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. But French officials could not confirm reports of a link between the hostage-taker at the kosher market Friday and the two suspects holed up at the printing house. more
