WHEN residents of Washington Mews in Newlands, Portmore saw a mongrel dog dragging a bag with an object in it they grew curious and investigated. To their shock and horror the bag contained the head of 36-year-old Dane Cross, also called 'Vigilante' or 'Vigo'.

Cross was one of two men killed in the community. His friend, 26-year-old cabinet maker Franklyn Robinson, also called 'Married Man', was identified as the other victim. Robinson, the police said, was employed to Courts Jamaica Ltd.
The remainder of Cross' body was not found up to last night, despite of the best efforts of the police yesterday. Robinson's body was found in the community, but with his head intact.
Andre Love, popularly known as ‘Duggo’, who was yesterday named as a person of interest. |
According to the police, residents reported hearing loud explosions about 10:45 on Monday night. Police believe the two were the victims of those gunshots as the head and body were found about 7:00 yesterday morning.
Yesterday, the police went into the community and took several persons in for questioning in connection with the murders.

At the same time, the St Catherine South Police have named Andre Love, popularly known as 'Duggo', as a person of interest in the macabre murder of both men. A police source said Love has been linked to more than a dozen murders in the division. "This is not the first time beheadings have taken place in the Newlands area," one policeman said. Sections of Newlands reportedly has links with the feared Klansman gang, known for the beheading of its victims. read more
SHOCK CLAIM: FOX NEWS CHIEF OFFERED $100/WEEK FOR SEX......Book On Roger Ailes Says He Had Horrible Temper, Offered Raise In Exchange For Sex
Fox News chief Roger Ailes offered a raise in exchange for sex, dubbed Bill O’Reilly "a book salesman with a TV show" and has a terrible temper, a new book alleges.
Gabriel Sherman's The Loudest Voice in the Room, a biography coming out Jan. 21, offers a scathing look at Ailes, according to an early look by The New York Times.
Roger Ailes, Fox News CEO |
Former employees cited in the book talked of Mr. Ailes’s volatile temper and domineering behavior. In one anecdote, a television producer, Randi Harrison, told Mr. Sherman that while negotiating her salary with Mr. Ailes at NBC in the 1980s, he offered her an additional $100 each week “if you agree to have sex with me whenever I want.”
Fox News denied the charges against Ailes, according to the Times. Some Fox sources have preemptively worked to dismiss the book, and Ailes even handpicked a journalist to write a biography after Sherman's was in the works. Ailes fired his top communications executive, Brian Lewis, last year, and some suggest the firing was in part because Ailes suspected the executive leaked information to Sherman. read more

Corporate Jamaica Bats For The Children in SHAGGY & FRIENDS benefit
As far as the eye could see on Saturday, January 4, members of corporate Jamaica were in full support of the Shaggy and Friends concert. That is, after they got over the time-consuming hurdle of actually entering the Jamaica House venue.
The wait at the Hope Road entrance was agonising. The pile-up was due largely in part to a long wait for a special official to enter. Many persons, tired of waiting, simply parked along the roadside and walked the long way to the venue. And once there, it was another lengthy delay to get armbands.
Shaggy says blood shortage affecting Jamaica....... Your Health Your Wealth
INTERNATIONAL artiste Shaggy, the man behind the Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation that is geared towards raising funds to offset some of the needs of the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston, said recently that a shortage of blood is another major problem affecting the country.
Since 2009, Shaggy whose given name is Orville Burrell, has raised US$2 million in support of the children's hospital through a charity concert. Just last weekend, the latest instalment of the charity concert was held, and though the final numbers on how much was raised are still out, the number of patrons who attended the event and the ticket sales are indications of just how well the event did this year.
Shaggy |
But, according to Shaggy, another problem that should be addressed is the shortage of blood affecting the island.
"We have a very bad blood problem in Jamaica," Shaggy told a group of reporters at a Jamaica Observer Monday Exchange meeting held at the newspaper's headquarters on Beechwood Avenue in Kingston, recently. "Pickney a dead, people a dead, because dem nuh have blood." read more
JAMAICA NEWS: Chaotic send-off for slain Manchester teen Angry relatives stage walkout at funeral service

The send-off for the 18-year-old, who was chopped to death in November allegedly by the father of her two-year-old son, was held at the Lititz Seventh-day Adventist Church in Manchester. Her death drew national attention following an eight-hour stand-off between the police and angry residents who were bent on exacting revenge on her alleged killer.
However, on Sunday it was a dispute between her paternal and maternal relatives that sparked the disturbance.
While the eulogy was being read, there was an uproar which was followed by the walkout — halting the funeral proceedings. read more

JAMAICA: Adoption Dilema
HUNDREDS of children will never lose the label 'wards of the State' because their biological parents are failing to sign over their rights to have them adopted by families who have been fostering them for years.
Now, some families who have answered the call to become foster parents are second-guessing this decision as they try unsuccessfully to adopt their young charges, despite being the only parents many of these children will ever know.
Although there are 900 children in foster care, only eight were adopted between April and August 2013, the most recent figures available from the Child Development Agency (CDA) revealed. Between April 2012 and August 2013 only 48 wards of the State were adopted. read more

Orville Taylor
Who is the Jamaican most deserving of the title, Personality of the Year? Such an individual must have captured the imagination of the average Jamaican, stimulated strong nationalistic feelings and made a difference either in the way we see ourselves, or how others see us.

Bolt |
Once again, the ubiquitous Usain St Leo Bolt is a strong contender. Still, for all he has done and the copping of another International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) award for Athlete of the Year, there is nothing new that Bolt has done to enhance the image of Jamaica or engender national unity. The fact is, Bolt did, in 2013, all that before, and by his standards, underperformed. His times were modest and he set no world or personal records. read more
