Outlandish Estate Built By Pimp Is Like Nothing You've Ever Seen (PHOTOS)......A 26,000 square foot home on the market -- for less than $1.3 million?
At 4923 Kessler Blvd. East Drive, it might be the absolute lack of any cohesive design focus in this immense, sprawling manor, dubbed "one of the most unique pieces of real estate in Indianapolis," that allows the bargain pricing.
Superlatives are often overused in real estate descriptions, but there is literally nothing like this estate -- and the story of how it all came to be is even more ludicrous than the decor.
The estate was the dream of Indy's Jerry A. Hostetler, whom the Indy Star refers to as "the almost-famous pimp-turned-construction mini-magnate" in a 2012 piece. "Mr Big," as the cops called Hostetler, bought the property in the 1960s when it was just a modest ranch home, at the age of 23. From there, he began buying up his neighbors' houses and constructing a fantasy estate -- in a style that can only be described as Midwestern Vegas Versailles. read more

The other winning ticket was sold at a gift shop in San Jose, Calif. Curry was driving to work Wednesday when an announcer on the radio talked about the mega ball being No. 7. "Between joyful tears and laughter on the daughter's part, she relayed to her mother that her mother had won the lottery," Alford said. read more
Jamaican bride dumps new husband 20 MINUTES after arriving in the UK... and guess who paid for her £5k visa Heartbroken charity worker believes she 'joined boyfriend with whom she planned scheme' He paid £5,000 for her visa
A charity worker who spent £5,000 bringing his new Jamaican bride to the UK was left heartbroken after she abandoned him within 20 minutes of walking through his front door.
False pretences: Mr Gannon pictured with his new wife after their wedding in Jamaica |
Johnny Gannon spent thousands arranging a visa for 24-year-old Patrice Chambers so they could live in marital bliss in his council flat in Perth, Scotland.
But as soon as Patrice arrived in Perth, she sent trusting Mr Gannon, 57, out to buy Pot Noodles. When he returned she grabbed her bags and told him she was going.
Within 20 minutes of arriving through his front door she had flagged down a car and caught a train. He found out she had also run up a £500 bill on his mobile phone.
Heartbroken Mr Gannon, who married Patrice in Jamaica early this year, believes his new wife fled to Bristol to meet a Jamaican boyfriend with whom she had organised the scheme.
He told the Daily Mirror: 'I was looking forward to spending the rest of my life with Patrice but I think she had planned all along to do this. Read more:

MANDEVILLE, Manchester JAMAICA: Making learning fun Music boosts academics at McIntosh Primary
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Remember when you were in basic school?
The classroom was full of energy — music, songs, brilliant colours. Much of what was learnt was steeped in happy rhythms and poetic songs.
Songs like 'a, b, c, d, e, f, g... next time won't you sing with me' and 'one and 20, two and 20, three and four and five and six and 20, 27, 28, 29, 30'. A similar but more advanced programme incorporating music and song in the classroom has been reaping success at a number of primary schools.
Students at McIntosh Primary School |
The First Global Bank initiative entitled 'Music — a perfect pitch for a sound education', was launched across six primary schools in 2011 to defuse the myth surrounding Mathematics and English, and to help students do better in these courses. Organisers targeted the grade three students in particular, to ensure a good showing on the Grade Four Literacy Test, which assesses primary school students' ability to read and do Math ahead of the GSAT exit exam. Banana Fungus, Insect Outbreak Threaten Global Supply
Banana lovers better satiate their appetites now. The world's supply of the fruit is under attack.
According to Scientific American, strains of a particular soil fungus -- Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense, or Foc -- have struck a key variety of banana grown for export in Mozambique and Jordan. Scientists fear that if the banana fungus spreads further, the popular Cavendish banana could become critically threatened.
The fungus, which has been found on several plantations, causes the incurablePanama disease, or Fusarium wilt, that rots bananas. In the 1950s, another strain of the banana fungus nearly wiped out the Gros Michel cultivar, once as common as the Cavendish variety. After the fungus decimated banana populations in Central and South America, producers switched to the Cavendish, which was resistant to the strain of fungus at the time.
But scientists have long feared that the Tropical Race 4 strain of the fungus -- previously confined to areas of Asia and Australia -- would eventually spread around the world and wipe out the Cavendish supply, just as a previous strain did to the Gros Michel banana. read more

JAMAICA: Dr. Henry Lowe on the Bissy - A New Potential Anti-Cancer Agent
The Jamaican bissy, also known as cola nut (cola acuminata), which is well known as a Jamaican remedy for the management of poisoning, may have yet another very important use.
Jamaica Bissy, popular for making tea |
Recent research data have revealed the significant anti-cancer activity of an extract from the Jamaican bissy. This research-and-development activity grew out of the anti-cancer work being spearheaded by Dr Henry Lowe, founder and executive chairman of the Bio-Tech Research and Development Institute. The main focus of the institute is the development of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products from Jamaica's indigenous medicinal plant resources.
In November 2011, Lowe and Dr Charah Watson, technical director of the Bio-Tech Research and Development Institute, took the plant extract to the School of Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where Lowe's major research work is being done. There, they teamed up with Dr Joseph Bryant and Dr Ngeh Toyang and investigated the possible anti-cancer activity of the bissy-plant extracts against four cancer celllines: two prostate (PC-3 and DU-145), one breast cancer (BC), and onemelanoma (B16). read more

VYBZ KARTEL MURDER TRIAL: Expert can’t say if text messages came from Kartel’s phone
AN expert from telecoms giant Digicel testified on Friday that he was unable to say whether text messages recovered by the police were sent from devices owned by murder accused Vybz Kartel or his co-accused.
Mario Ghantous Assaad, Digicel's group chief technology officer, testified under cross-examination in the Home Circuit Court that it was possible for a SIM card to be cloned.
Vybz Kartel |
Under questioning from attorney Michael Lorne, Assaad said that it was possible for a mobile phone's unique identification number to be hacked and for a phone call to be placed or a message sent from a cloned mobile phone, making it appear as if the original owner of the phone number was placing the call or sending the message.
Due to these factors, Assaad said he was unable to say if messages reportedly recovered from Digicel's system were actually sent from the original devices which the police are alleging were confiscated from Vybz Kartel and his co-accused. Read more:

In a new interview with the Italian newspaper La Stampa, Pope Francis responded to allegations that he is a Marxist, after he recently criticized 'unfettered capitalism.'
The Pope told La Stampa that “Marxist ideology is wrong. But I have met many Marxists in my life who are good people, so I don’t feel offended ... there is nothing in the exhortation that cannot be found in the social doctrine of the church.”
The Pope |
He was referring to an apostolic exhortation from November, in which he wrote, "As long as the problems of the poor are not radically resolved by rejecting the absolute autonomy of markets and financial speculation and by attacking the structural causes of inequality, no solution will be found for the world's problems or, for that matter, to any problems."
Another passage read, ""Just as the commandment 'Thou shalt not kill' sets a clear limit in order to safeguard the value of human life, today we also have to say 'thou shalt not' to an economy of exclusion and inequality. Such an economy kills." read more

Thamsanqa Jantjie, 'Fake' Mandela Interpreter, Was Reportedly Accused Of Murder was within arm's length of President Obama and other world leaders
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — South Africa's government was confronted Friday with a new and chilling allegation about the bogus sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela's memorial: He was reportedly accused of murder 10 years ago.
Officials said they were investigating the revelation by the national eNCA TV news station. But they were unable, or unwilling, to explain why a man who says he is schizophrenic with violent tendencies was allowed to get within arm's length of President Barack Obama and other world leaders.
Investigators probing Thamsanqa Jantjie "will compile a comprehensive report," said Phumla Williams, the top government spokeswoman. But she did not say how long the investigation would take and insisted details would not be released until it was completed.
"We are not going to sweep it under the carpet," Williams said. "We want to own up if there is a mistake, but we don't want to be dishonest" to Jantjie. read more
