Nelson Mandela still unable to speak, says ex-wife Winnie
Former South African president Nelson Mandela is still unable to speak but uses facial expressions to communicate, his ex-wife has told a local newspaper.
Winnie Madikizela-Mandela said the 95-year-old remained "quite ill" but she dismissed speculation that he was on a life support machine.
In September Mr Mandela returned home after nearly three months in hospital with a recurring lung infection.
The government has said his condition is critical and sometimes unstable.
He is no longer talking "because of all the tubes that are in his mouth to clear [fluid from] the lungs", Ms Madikizela-Mandel told South Africa's Sunday Independent newspaper.
"He can't actually articulate anything... He communicates with the face, you see. But the doctors have told us they hope to recover his voice." read more
'Miss, I Have Been Raped By ...' - 10 Year-Old Shocks Children's Advocate With Public Allegation...
Children's Advocate Diahann Gordon-Harrison was shocked when, during an appeal for adults to be vigilant about child abuse, a 10-year-old girl stood up and said "Miss, I have been raped by a man called ..."
Gordon-Harrison who was addressing a large gathering at a special children's programme at the Riverton Meadows Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Corporate Area, immediately called for the girl's case to be investigated.
The Children's Advocate noted that it was not too late for the case to be prosecuted, and stressed that the child had to get counselling. The girl's disclosure drew sympathetic comments from the large gathering.
Found help
Some persons remarked that they were happy that the girl, who was one of the children invited to the programme by the children's ministry department of the church, had found an avenue to get help. read more

IAAF President Lamine Diak (right) gives Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt his 2013 Athlete |
President of the IAAF, Lamine Diack, has added his voice to what has been described as a ridiculous campaign against Jamaica and Kenya.
Diack, speaking to journalists ahead of last night's IAAF Gala and Awards ceremony at the Salle des Etoiles here, insisted that the heavy-handed approach and focus by WADA on Jamaica was unwarranted and believes it to be part of a larger attack on the sport of track and field.
"Stop all this nonsense!" said Diack. "Everyone knows the strength of Jamaica in the sprinting, especially, it didn't start in Usain (Bolt). read more

JAMAICA has produced many a hit studio especially during the 1970s when reggae was taking off overseas. Here are five of those studios:
Dynamic Sounds: Was hot property in the early 1970s. This is where Paul Simon recorded his 1971 hit song Mother and Child Reunion, and the Rolling Stones cut their 1973 album, Goat Head Soup. Eric Clapton did sessions for his 1975 album, One in Every Crowd at the Kingston studio..

Channel One: Thirty-odd years ago, everyone wanted to do sessions at 'Channel', which was officially opened by the Hoo Kim brothers in 1973. The API console was cutting-edge for the time and house band, The Revolutionaries, made full use of it. The Mighty Diamonds' I Need a Roof, Leroy Smart's Ballistic Affair and Woman is Like a Shadow by the Meditations were done at Channel One in the mid-1970s. Later, Sly and Robbie, who were part of The Revolutionaries, produced many of the songs for their Taxi label there. These included the Tamlins' Baltimore and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner by Black Uhuru. Read more:

MUMBAI, India — The people of India, especially the ones who were present at the Wankhede stadium yesterday, will never forget this day. It was a rich reflection of where Indian cricket is placed at the moment. It was a keen pointer that despite the impending farewell of their legendary hero, everything is, and will be, just fine.

Obama Announces Fix for 'Fumbled' Health Care Implementation.....John King: For Obama, a bad turn or a tipping point? (VIDEO)
Washington (CNN) -- With his presidency at a crossroads, President Barack Obama delivered his health care "fix it" message with a healthy dose of reflection and contrition: "I think I said early on when I was running, I am not a perfect man and I will not be a perfect president."
At the moment, the challenge is to get back to being a productive president, and those who see a difficult path ahead include veteran Democrats the President counts among his most trusted friends and allies. "Can Obama come back?" a veteran Democratic strategist asked. "Yes. But like Carter and (George W.) Bush, his downfall is his handling of the job."This party sage framed the stakes this way:
"The next few months will tell us whether he will be remembered in the pantheon of successful/consequential presidents in the last 60 years or whether he will be a flawed president whose skills did not match the times." read more
IN JAMAICA: 5 JLP senators to resign....... Holness expected to make statement on Senate issue today.
The five senators who are understood to have agreed to hand in their resignations are Robert Montague, Tom Tavares-Finson, Alexander Williams, Kavan Gayle, and Kamina Johnson Smith.
Senator Marlene Malahoo-Forte was scheduled to meet Holness at his office last night, and there was some hope that she would share the view of the majority and resign. But there was nothing to indicate that she would.
However, the focus will be on the two most prominent Opposition senators who seem determined not to give up their seats and to challenge any attempt by the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) leader to unseat them. They are Leader of Opposition Business Arthur Williams and former shadow cabinet spokesman Dr Christopher Tufton....
Senator Williams told the Jamaica Observer last night that he plans to attend the Senate tomorrow and participate in the proceedings as Leader of Opposition Business. Read more:

Jacqui Beck |
A British teenager said she was in "total shock" to learn that she had been born without a vagina.
During a routine visit to the doctor, Jacqui Beck, 17, mentioned that she hadn't started getting her periods. Tests soon showed that she had MRKH syndrome, a genetic condition that meant she had been born without a vagina, womb or cervix.
"I left the doctor's [office] in tears. I would never know what it was like to give birth, be pregnant, have a period. All the things I had imagined doing suddenly got erased from my future," Beck told the Daily Mail. "I was really angry and felt like I wasn’t a real woman any more." read more

The backlash to the Obamacare fix has already started
It took about three hours exactly for states to start pushing back against President Obama's request that regulators allow insurance plans to offer current products in 2014.
Washington state insurance commissioner Mike Kreidler has announced that he will not allow insurance companies to do so.
"In the interest of keeping the consumer protections we have enacted and ensuring that we keep health insurance costs down for all consumers, we are staying the course," he said in a statement moments ago. "We will not be allowing insurance companies to extend their policies. I believe this is in the best interest of the health insurance market in Washington." read more

Sarah Palin Comments On Chris Christie's 'Extreme' Physical Appearance, 'Liberal' Pope Francis
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) said New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's physical appearance is an issue only because it's "extreme."
In an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper, Palin discussed her experience with sexism, saying former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has experienced the same. Palin said Clinton "was mistreated when it came to appearances," dealing with "petty, superficial things that men don't ever seem to hear much about, but a woman candidate will."
When Tapper pointed out that Christie's appearance is regularly scrutinized, Palin argued he's a special case. "[I]t's been extreme, so it's hard for some people not to comment on it," Palin said.
Palin also discussed Pope Francis in her interview with Tapper, voicing concern over his more "liberal" statements. read more
Ted Cruz's Father: Black People ‘Uninformed' And ‘Deceived'
Evangelical pastor Rafael Cruz, father of tea party star Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), called black and Hispanic voters “uninformed” and “deceived" during a speech to conservative activists in February.
After attending a panel on minority outreach at the FreedomWorks grassroots summit, Cruz, a Cuban-American, born-again Christian, spoke at the conference. He noted that a previous speaker "mentioned something about Hispanics being uninformed or deceived."

"Well, the same thing is true of the black population,” Cruz said.
Cruz also suggested how blacks and Hispanics should vote. “As a matter of fact, if we could communicate the truth, not only to the Hispanics but to the black population, all blacks should be Republican," he said.
“Highly religious, strongly pro-family, strongly pro-life” values and high military enrollment rates align Hispanics’ principles with the Republican Party’s, said Cruz. read more

During an appearance on The Trisha Goddard Show, Cobb was given the results of a DNA Diagnostics test and found out he is 14 percent Sub-Saharan African, and it was all caught on camera.

President Elizabeth Warren? Wall Street Bankers Would Be Scared.
NEW YORK — There are three words that strike terror in the hearts of Wall Street bankers and corporate executives across the land: President Elizabeth Warren.
The anxiety over Warren grew Monday after a magazine report suggested the bank-bashing Democratic senator from Massachusetts could mount a presidential bid in 2016 and would not necessarily defer to Hillary Clinton — who is viewed as far more business-friendly — for the party’s nomination.

It said that the nationalities of the four people — two men and two women — were not known. According to a brief statement issued by the Civil Aviation Department's Flight Standard Inspectorate, the United States registered single engine aircraft, a Cirrus SR22, was on a visual flight rule (VFR) "while conducting a local sightseeing flight in the area of Freeport, Grand Bahama. "The aircraft apparently ditched in low waters approximately seven miles north of the Freeport Control Tower," the statement said.
