St. Thomas, JAMAICA: Conflict over bus passenger load sparks protest in Yallas & Bull Bay, St Thomas


SCORES of commuters in St Thomas were left stranded for hours yesterday after bus operators parked their vehicles from service and blocked sections of the Yallahs main road amidst a disagreement between them and the Island Traffic Authority (ITA) over the number of passengers they are allowed to carry.
The close to 40 operators — who ply the St Thomas, Bull Bay to downtown Kingston route — felt that they were being unfairly pressured by the ITA following its order that the buses should carry no more than 22 passengers. READ More...
